How we help churches select VBS curriculum

VBS kidsVacation Bible School (VBS) is a wonderful event for many churches, providing lots of fun while letting kids know that God loves them. It’s a great way to reach out to those outside the church, as often VBS attracts kids who don’t regularly attend Sunday school.

Each year the VBS publishers announce their themes and those planning for VBS make their selections. A good VBS theme should be one that not only interests kids and adults but also lends itself to creative decorating, crafts, games, and more.

However, there is more to choosing a VBS curriculum than liking the theme. Besides different theological perspectives, the various kits vary greatly in cost, quality, what they provide, whether they have reproducible materials, and a host of other things.

Practical Church Resources (PCR) is able to help VBS directors wade though all these options and choose the best curriculum for their situation. For those within range of our Rocky Point, NY office we have the most popular kits available for preview.

We also offer a free VBS curriculum preview webinar each year; you can click here to view the recording of our 2014 preview. The preview includes not just information about curriculum for purchase but some free curriculum options as well. There are also tips for planning your VBS program and following up when it’s over.  In addition, all the information from our curriculump review is available in a free booklet which can be downloaded from the Children’s Ministry Links & Downloads page of our website.

If you have a particular question you’d like to ask about selecting curriculum and/or planning a VBS program, you can contact PCR by e-mail, phone (631-821-2255), or through Facebook.
