We are faith geeks

Faith Geeks (1)Stop by the main office of PCR in Rocky Point at any given time and you’re likely to hear a conversation unlike those in most workplaces. Last week, as we prepared for an upcoming roundtable on spiritual practices, we discussed the differences between meditation and contemplative prayer. Another conversation might focus on denominational structures and polities or the history of baptism in the church.

We also had a talk last week about neckties, but it wasn’t about the best store to buy one or whether they’re a good choice for a Father’s Day gift. We discussed how to make a stole for a pastor out of ties or create a labyrinth from them.

We don’t just have these discussions as part of our work, we actually find these topics interesting; that’s because we are faith geeks.

So what is a faith geek? Well, we could probably discuss that for hours but briefly stated a faith geek is:
From Merriam-Webster.com
faith – firm belief in something for which there is no proof…especially: a system of religious beliefs
geek – an enthusiast or expert
So a faith geek is an enthusiast or expert of a system of religious beliefs (for which there is no proof).

If you’re reading this blog, you may be a faith geek as well. Not sure? Visit our Faith Geeks blog and take the test Are You a Faith Geek? And if you’re in the area, stop by the PCR office for some faith geeky conversation.
